Day 11: Stepping Strong Aerobics

Looks like I’ve gained another half-pound; 0.6 lbs to be exact. Despite that, this was the first time I was feeling super strong. Started the workout wanting to do at least 15 minutes, but hoping that I would feel up to 20 minutes. By the 3rd song I knew I’d be able to keep going till the 20 minute mark. When 20 minutes hit I was feeling so good, I decided to finish out the song (Blurred lines), which ended at the 23:30-ish mark. Not ready to quit then, I kept going until 25 minutes; a nice round number to stop at. Wahoo happy to be working-out longer, but more importantly I’m actually enjoying it. I don’t want to quit!!

Day 10: Slight Gain

D’oh, looks like I’ve gained a pound. It’s my own fault, too much snackin’ and beer. Okay nevermind, I’m gonna blame those dang micro-breweries! Seriously it is so hard to resist pastries sometimes. It didn’t keep me from working out however, so that’s good.

I’m paid dearly for the extra food consumption yesterday. I totally didn’t want to workout.

Day 9: Still Stepping

Kept this step aerobic workout going for 23 minutes and I’m very happy about that. If I can keep going like this, possibly I’ll be motivated to increase my workouts to 30 minutes on average. Of course I’ll continue to allow myself to quit a workout after only 15 minutes, just so that I don’t dread the workout length and start blowing them of all-together. What I mean is, I don’t force myself to do 25 or 30 minutes, just because I did it the previous day. It’s whatever I want or feel like doing. A 5 minute workout is better than no workout.

Day 8: Awesome Step Workout

Aside from the fact that I gained .5 lbs, I’m feeling good and especially light these days. I think my workouts and better eating habits are paying off. I love feeling strong and energetic, like I can accomplish anything; which is how I feel today. What better motivation is there for continuing on this journey? I switched the music a little, and of the two new songs I really like one of them a lot.

Notes

Loved hearing the Proclaimers during my workout, especially liked I’m On MY Way. As much as I like the song I’m Gonna Be (500 miles), I don’t think I’ll keep is as part of my workout lineup. It just wasn’t peppy or motivating enough is all.

Day 7: Losing Weight with Step Aerobics

I’m a third of the way done with my 21 day Step Aerobic Journey, and already I’ve lost almost 2 pounds. Sweet. I’m tweaking the music again, still looking for the perfect line-up of songs. Not sure if I’ll ever find it. That is, no matter how great the mix is I’ll want (or need) to change it after a few workouts. Good thing Step aRobix allows me to do this whenever I want. This is the problem with all fitness DVD’s IMO, you can’t change the music and eventually you just get bored. This leads to skipping a workout here or there until some point when you just quit altogether. I’m keeping it fresh with music changes. Not only that, if and when I get bored with the workout, I can change that too! Try that with a DVD.

Notes

I felt energetic enough to do a 20 minute workout today; always a good thing. I really enjoyed Pocket Full of Sunshine and Sugar Rays’ Dance Like No One’s Watchin’, but I didn’t like working out to Katy Perry. It’s not that I didn’t like the song, I just don’t know it well enough to be motivated by it.

Day 5: Custom Step Music

I finally did it. I actually got around to changing my workout music. See, that’s why I love this Step aRobix app for working out. Being able to customize my workout, the music for my Basic Step Workout in this case, makes for an entirely new workout. The last 4 days I’ve used music that was within the range of 118-128 beats-per-minute (bpm), which is supposed to be perfect for step aerobics. However this doesn’t make it perfect for me. At 50 (okay, almost 50) I find music in the 110-120 bpm range is a better starting point. In fact, it’s perfect for me. Just tweaking the music a little made me totally have the best workout EVER! Here’s my new line-up:

Day 4: Working Out Light

I’ve been documenting my step aerobic workouts religiously, but unfortunately my blog is a day behind. To fix this, I’m posting twice today. That way, I’ll be all caught up for tomorrow’s journal entry. Today was a light day working-out. After 3 days my legs just didn’t want to move. Actually, I think it was because I added the afternoon step workout yesterday. Seriously, my legs feel as if they’re made of lead. Maybe working out twice in one day isn’t such a good idea 😛

Day 3: Continued…

Though I had hoped to make some changes, day 3 of my step aerobics journey uses the same music, as days 1 and 2. I did however make one change, and that was to include an afternoon step aerobic workout. Not only did I workout for 15 minutes in the morning, I did a 10 minute workout before dinner.

Day 2: 15 Minute Step Workout

Day 2 of my 21 day fitness journey turned-out a lot like day 1. In fact other than going from a 20 minute workout to a 15 minute workout, it was exactly the same. I was hoping to supplement this shorter timeframe with an evening workout of 5 to 15 minutes. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Anyway, for those of you who don’t remember the details from Day 1: Step aRobix the Workout here are the details for day 2:
